As many of you know … (and contest)

September 8, 2009

This blog began as a way to track my progress as I wrote Look to the East.

My early posts (starting around August of 2008, a year ago already!) will take you through the sale, the rough drafts, questions about the ending, and even pictures of my research trip to Northern France where this book takes place. (If you’ve got a moment or two, grab of cup of coffee and sit back, take a peek at the journey this story has had from its inception through editing and on to publication.)

Way back at the beginning, the book even had a different title. Do you know what it was? For this month’s contest and a chance to win a signed copy of Look to the East, tell me what the initial (or working title) was and I’ll enter your name in the drawing to win one of two signed copies of Look to the East. Just leave your answer in the comments of this post.

(Hint – the answer is on this blog. Happy hunting!)

Void where prohibited; open only to U.S. residents, odds of winning depend on number of entrants.

Look to the East was originally Brother's All. I enjoyed reading about the different titles in that post and how some of them came to be.

I had so much fun reading through your past blog posts, Maureen! I'm not a writer at all, and had no idea how much time and effort goes into the process – from research, to deadlines, to editing, etc. I just know that I enjoy your books.

Your working title for "Look to the East" was "Brother's All" – taken from a poem about the need for unity in spite of our differences.

Thanks for the giveaway and best wishes on your writing career, Maureen.

I haven't read all of last year's posts but what I did read was interesting to say the least. I do intend to sit down soon and read all of them. What a grand way to get people more into what you have gone through to make this book, "Look To The East". I'd love to read the book for myself and see why you had originally come up with the name, "Brother's All".
Please enter me in your drawing. Thanks.
